OAKLAND, Calif. -- Followers of doomsday radio preacher Harold Camping were awaiting news of the 89 year old's condition Monday after he suffered a stroke and was hospitalized in California.
Camping -- who received global publicity by predicting that the Rapture would occur May 21 -- had a stroke Thursday night after taping his radio program,
The manager said an update on Camping's condition would be issued Monday.
"Please just pray for him and do not try to contact anyone at his home or Family Radio," the message read.
A neighbor told The Oakland Tribune that Camping was "doing good," although his speech was slurred.
Camping recently offered a new date for the Rapture, Oct. 21, after his May doomsday prediction failed to materialize. He made similar claims about the world ending in 1994.
