LIVB Celebrates Fathers Day...Everyday!

On The next Live In The Vocal Booth Show, we celebrate Fathers across the world. Let’s be real, many fathers these days don’t get the recognition they deserve.  Dads get applauded if they are simply seen with their children in public and are considered saints if they are actually married to their child/children’s mother!  Not tonight…tonight, we are celebrating dads of all kinds.  Married dads, single dads, dads of all races & creeds; if their doing what they are supposed to do, we’re celebrating you. We’re celebrating daddies tonight on “Live in the Vocal Booth”!

SPECIAL GUESTS: CEO/FOUNDER OF MY FATHER KNOWS BEST RON ALSTON, Assistant Director Denise Sinkler, and Cythina Strickland CEO of Cee and Learn

We are extremely excited to welcome Ron Alston and the supporters of “My Father Knows Best” (MFKB), a non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to inner city children who need it the most. MFKB was started in 1988. The CEO/ FOUNDER Ron Alston developed the idea to start the organization very young as a kid growing up in a single parent home. His mother raised 3 sons on her own and the father was very absent in all of their lives.  My Father Knows Best was first developed to help father and sons build strong relationships. Ron started having father and son breakfast once a year that were all very successful. Things got so busy that women started to ask if they could be a part of the breakfast events and it has now developed into a BREAKFAST COMMUNITY EVENT every year around the month of MAY!

The other major events that MFKB sponsors are Back to School Events each year in the Irvington area before the kids go to school. Over the years thousands of kids have-been blessed through MFKB by receiving free book bags and various school supplies. This year will be MFKB 11th annual Back to School Event and most of the funding has come right out of Ron's pockets although times are very hard for him.

Mr. Alston understands that the gift to give is a true blessing since he himself grew up in a poor family out of the Newark NJ area. Although he resides in the Irvington area he is from Newark NJ.  He attended Malcolm X Shabazz High School for three years before graduating from Barringer High in 1979.  Not only does MFKB reach out to our youth but so many others.

Each year MFKB sponsors food drives for the homeless especially around Thanksgiving Holidays.   MFKB has even reached out to senior citizens through harsh winters and gathered strong men to help lift the snow from yards and break dangerous ice that formed around the sidewalks of our elderly property!   Mr. Alston also has used his barber skills to give kids in a variety of community’s free haircuts and he continues to have coat drives.  Through those coat drives many kids and adults have-been blessed with winter gear in which they could not afford.

MFKB mission is to simply continue to make a difference not only in a child’s life but enhance community overall. During Mr. Alston’s younger years while growing up without a father figure he had a very hectic past. He sold drugs on the streets just to make ends meet but he turned his life around after meeting his beautiful wife Youver Alston whom is nurse.   They have a very intelligent and motivated teenage son whom recently graduated high school and now working towards his future goals.

The CEO of MFKB took a negative circumstance while growing up in a single parent home and became the complete opposite of his absent father and remained in his son’s life and even put him through private school.

MFKB is standing strong today. Ron’s motivation has captured the attention of many well know celebrities.  Through his outreach efforts he was able to do a day tour with Bill Cosby in the community. He captured the attention and support of Super Bowl Hero David Tyree whom continues to support MFKB by speaking at the yearly Breakfast Events.   Also, Mayor Wayne Smith of Irvington is also a strong supporter of MFKB.

Denise Sinkler of Pittsburgh Pa ( A relative of Ron with a background in journalism.)  Ms. Sinkler has been a strong supporter of MFKB for over 8 years and has always multi-tasked  within the organization by doing a variety of things. Although,  Denise commutes far from her home town of Pittsburgh just to help out with the organization does not go in vain. She feels that her grass roots with community service developed and started with MFKB.  She  has-been promoted Team Leader for this year’s  Back To School Event and Executive Director for ongoing and future events. Ms. Sinkler is also in the process of building a MFKB team in her home town of Pittsburgh and will take what she has learned with the organization to help make her community in which she came a better place.

Cee Strickland of Cee & Learn ( Cee & Learn is a nonprofit organization that reaches out to our youth to help enhance literacy.) www.ceelearn.com

For those whom want to know more about MFKB do not bypass our new website www.MYFATHERKNOWSBEST.ORG. The MFKB site was personally created and designed by Cee Strickland of Cee & Learn!
