Live In The Cipher Review: The Game - The R.E.D. Album
Tuesday, 23 August 2011 22:52The R.E.D. Album is the fourth studio released project from California MC The Game. There is a misconception about the title of the album being R.E.D., the assumption was that it was inspired by his blood gang affiliation. In an interview with MTV News (click for more), Game clears up the misconception by stating the album title was derived from him being "rededicated to hip hop, family, Compton, and rededicated to everything"
Game has always been a controversial MC, who is not afraid to speak his mind and go against some of the heavyweights in the rap game. After giving the hip hop world three quality albums, The Documentary, Doctors Advocate, and LAX, can The R.E.D. Album keep up the streak of good music from The Game? With features from Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Tyler the Creator, and Chris Brown, to name a few from the quality list of featured artists. Will the R.E.D. Album deliver and meet expectations or fall short and disappoint? Tune in at 9 pm est/6 pm pst and you be the judge along with the Live In The Cipher team. Live In The Cipher Artist Review: 50 Cent - 5 Murder By Numbers and P. Genz - The Preparative
Wednesday, 11 July 2012 19:16Tonight the Live In The Cipher team brings you a double artist review. First we have up and coming New Jersey bred MC P. Genz with his The Preparative EP release. Then followed by the Legendary 50 Cent latest release 5 Murder By Numbers. Join our interactive review process where your opinion counts.
Artist Review: P. Genz
New Jersey representative P. Genz has taken an affinity for verbal expression. P. Genz began rapping at the age of 6 and began writing at the age of 12. He claims, " I used to write some off the wall stuff and I've always had a sense of flow when it came to rhyming". P. Genz and his undeniable talent has been deemed "ahead of his time." Surrounded by his musically inclined older brothers, P. Genz had absorbed lyrical styles of some of the greats, such as, Eric B. & Rakim, Kool G Rap, Nas, Jay Z, Redman and Wu-Tang Clan.
Now, at the more mature age of 24, P. Genz has been working harder than ever to alert the world that his music has such lyrical and stylistic quality worth taking notice and listening to in his home state of New Jersey and around the world. He has established his company, "Essence Gold Music", completed 4 solo albums, one collaboration EP with German Producer, JayBeats, and a accumulation of guest appearances. Staying focused on music and maintaining artistry, P.Genz isn't looking at anything other than onward movement to ensure that his music and the essence of his musical expression is not lost in the struggles of his past. He has come a long way and his path to success is only getting brighter.
Artist Review: 50 Cent
Curtis James Jackson III (born July 6, 1975), better known by his stage name 50 Cent (often pronounced "fitty cent"), is an American rapper, entrepreneur, investor, record producer, and actor. He rose to fame with the release of his albums Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003) and The Massacre (2005). His album Get Rich or Die Tryin' has been certified eight times platinum by the RIAA.
Born in the South Jamaica of Queens, New York City, Jackson began drug dealing at the age of twelve during the 1980s crack epidemic. After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he was shot at and struck by nine bullets during an incident in 2000. After releasing his album Guess Who's Back? in 2002, Jackson was discovered by rapper Eminem and signed to Interscope Records. With the help of Eminem and Dr. Dre, who produced his first major commercial successes, Jackson became one of the world's highest selling rappers. In 2003, he founded the record label G-Unit Records, which signed several successful rappers such as Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo.
