Born and raised in the Bronx, Leesa Dean attended LaGuardia HS of the Arts and Wesleyan University and has a BFA. Her underground comic book, Chilltown (Zeric Award winner for Best Indy Book), has been featured in The Source, Spin & Vibe Magazines as well as numerous national newspapers and radio. Primarily a writer, she has sold a number of television scripts—including ones to HBO producers Two Oceans Entertainment and BET—but was always "in development." Frustrated, she taught herself how to animate five years ago and, solo guerilla-style, has completed three full series: Chilltown, The Danger Squad and Lele's Sex Advice Show, all set to launch Chilltowntv.the official home of the hip-hop oriented, animated web comedy, Chilltown.
Based on the hit underground comic book and created, written and animated by Leesa Dean, it revolves around the lives and mis-adventures of three underground hip-hop heads(G, Marv and Plad) straight outta Chilltown, NJ. Added in the mix: G's wannabe mogul cousin K Deuce and Lele, K Deuce's girl. Designed, at times, to skewer pop & rap culture, many of the episodes center around the music biz. Starring comedy stars Wil Sylvince (Wayans Brothers, Chapelle Show, Patrice O'Neal), Dante Nero (Patrice O'Neal, Chappelle Show, co-host Black Phillip Show), Victor Cruz (Law & Order, Blue Bloods, Victor Cruz Radio Show), Richie Bulldog (Richie Bulldog Certified) and Gil T (HBO Def Comedy All-Star Jam, Apollo Comedy Hour, Showtime's Comedy Club), the series features original music by producer DJ Wally Pish Posh (Alicia Keys, Black Star, Basketball Wives, Hip-hop Honors.) Chilltown is rated MA for strong language.
