Special Guest: Diggs Gully

Somewhere between Eminem, Redman and Method Man’s animated comedic fun sound. Combined with M.O.P and Onyx’s gritty live energy, hard hitting, vulgar, spit in your face, slap your momma vibe lies “Diggs”.  The old saying is that “a man of many names is a man of many mysteries”.  Born Omarr Rashon Maurice Jacobs, “Diggs” is a native of Newark, NJ whom has not only developed a talent for music, writing, and producing but, also is working on his craft for acting and designing.

“Diggs” better known as the leader of the 7 member crew of first- rate emcees’ and producers’ called “Murksville U.S.A”, has made a well deserved name for himself and his allies spanning a direct fan base from New York to Florida, opening for artists from T.I, Lil Jon & the Eastside Boys, to Boot Camp Click, Naughty by Nature, and Ja Rule.  Anyone who knows Diggs knows that he is more than just the founder and C.E.O of Murksville USA; he is as well the creator of Makiaomar Clothing a Prep/ Retro Apparel for the "Young, Bold & Flashy". Dusting off more opportunities to expose himself, he began acting as an extent of his career.

As a child being the oldest of 7 children, Diggs has always had an excitement for the performing arts. He has performed in over 10-12 playwrights from elementary to college gaining his first “Big!” opportunity as a co-star in the independent movie “Down on my Luck” and the Christian Broadway play “Who is a Virtuous Woman?”  With his undying focus and sharp tenacity to succeed he is nothing short of being another successful young black entrepreneur.

Live In The Cipher Artist Review: A$AP Rocky - Long.Live.A$AP

Artist Review: A$AP Rocky

ASAP Rocky's career is moving at high-speed. As early as this summer, the Harlem rapper was known only within the most esoteric annals of message boards and Tumblrs, until he released his eye-catching video for "Peso" in August and the hype began to snowball. Three months later, he's the most hyped-up rapper on the Web, worth upwards of $3 million after inking a major label deal that aims to make him and his ASAP crew the next rap dynasty, all on the strength of two viral videos and a thrown-together six song mixtape.

In signing his $3M deal, with Sony / RCA subdivision Polo Grounds, Rocky risks backlash from the underground and blogging circuits that spurred his speedy rise, not to mention the Herculean expectations that come along with that kind of contract. Such a rapid transition from revered Internet phenom to major-label star is unprecedented. The closest comparison available is Rocky's newly announced tour mate Drake, who only received a reported $2M in advance in his deal with Young Money, and that was after a number of well-received mixtapes. With all that money, buzz, and expectation, the stakes were Himalayan high for Rocky's first proper full-length mixtape Live Love ASAP, released for free on Monday.

Fortunately for Rocky, and us, the 23 year old comes through with a thoroughly solid collection on his debut. Sleek, consistent, and highly listenable, Live Love ASAP has plenty for old fans, new fans, and the label execs with their wallets riding on him. Rocky has crafted a unique identity for himself by applying Pablo Picasso's sentiment that "Art is theft" to his favorite rappers, many of whom he name checks-Kanye, Andre 3000, Lil B, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, UGK to name a few.

Freeway, is an American rapper, best known for his tenure on Roc-A-Fella Records and his affiliation with Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel. He is a believing Muslim. Like Rick Ross, his moniker is derived from the name of the infamous drug trafficker "Freeway" Ricky Ross. Freeway is currently with Rhymesayers Entertainment.

On February 25, 2003, Freeway released his debut album, Philadelphia Freeway. The album was produced primarily by Roc-A-Fella-affiliated beatsmiths Just Blaze, Bink! , and Kanye West and featured a large number of Roc-A-Fella rappers. Many of them also hailed from Philadelphia, and were soon compiled into the group State Property led by Freeway and Beanie Sigel. The album had two singles, the biggest hits of Freeway's career thus far: "What We Do," Featuring Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel, for which a video was released showcasing most of the Roc's roster at the time, and "Flipside", featuring State Property member Peedi Crakk ; both records were produced by Just Blaze. The album also reached gold sales of over 500,000 units

Live In The Cipher Artist Review: Big Boi - Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors

Live In The Cipher Artist Review: Big Boi - Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors

Live In The Cipher rates and reviews Big Boi, a member of the legendary hip hop group Outkast, latest release Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. Join the team for our interactive rate and review process where your opinion counts. See if Big Boi can continue to deliver the quality music that he is known to bring his fans.

Artist Review: Big Boi

Antwan André Patton, better known by his stage name Big Boi, is an American rapper, song-writer, record producer and actor, best known for being a member of American hip hop duo OutKast alongside André 3000. His work in the duo has produced six studio albums. During the duo's hiatus, he and André 3000 each announced plans to release a solo album. Big Boi's solo debut Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was released in July 2010 to respectable sales and critical acclaim.

He had a strong interest in hip-hop music, and met André "3000" Benjamin while attending Tri Cities High School in the early-1990s. The two eventually joined forces as OutKast and signed with LaFace Records.

Patton has often used his lyrics to criticize the problems that plague both the African American community and the world. An example is 2003's "War", a scathing attack on the Bush administration and the War on Terror. Another example is 2008's "Sumthin's Gotta Give" with Mary J. Blige talking about the state of America and Barack Obama.

After four increasingly successful albums as a duo, the members of OutKast chose to make two solo albums, and release them as a double album under the OutKast name. André 3000 released The Love Below and Big Boi Speakerboxxx. The two albums were packaged together as Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2003. Speakerboxxx featured a style similar to OutKast's previous efforts, while The Love Below explored more offbeat territory, with André 3000 mainly singing rather than his usual rapping. One song from each album was released in September 2003 as a single.

Patton's choice was the single "The Way You Move", featuring Sleepy Brown. It was originally supported by urban radio, but then crossed over to pop charts and became almost as big a pop hit as Benjamin's "Hey Ya!". "The Way You Move" supplanted "Hey Ya!" as the #1 song on the US pop charts. The second single from Big Boi's side of the album was "Ghetto Musick", which featured both members of OutKast and a sample from Patti LaBelle's "Love, Need & Want You".

In 2007 after the sixth album under the OutKast name, Idlewild, Big Boi announced plans to release a full fledged solo album. While he had released a previous solo album in Speakerboxxx, it still was technically under the OutKast name. The album was to be titled Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. The album's first promotional single, "Royal Flush", was released in 2007, and featured Raekwon and André 3000. Over the next few years the album saw many delays, but multiple promotional and video singles were released such as "Shine Blockas" featuring Gucci Mane, "For Yo Sorrows" featuring George Clinton and Too $hort and "General Patton" featuring Big Rube.

The first official single was "Shutterbugg" featuring Cutty and the second "Follow Us" featuring Vonnegutt. The album was released internationally on July 5. Guest artists include alternative urban songstress Janelle Monae; Big Boi's own new group Vonnegutt; plus established rappers T.I. and B.o.B. Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty received general acclaim from most music critics, earning praise for its inventive sound, varied musical style, and Big Boi's lyricis.

In a July 2010 interview for The Village Voice, Big Boi revealed that he is working on the follow-up album to Sir Lucious Left Foot, entitled Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, stating that he is "maybe about six songs into it".  It is expected for a late-2012 release.

On February 27, 2011, it was announced that Big Boi is creating a joint album along with rappers Mike Bigga and Pill.  Later that day, Big Boi posted on his Twitter account that he was mixing Mike Bigga's album entitled, "PL3DGE".

Big Boi announced on May 24, 2012 that he was about 80% complete with his next solo release. He also revealed that both he and Andre 3000 would be releasing solo projects prior to any Outkast project.

On June 9, Big Boi announced via Twitter that he will be releasing "Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors" on November 13. That date was later pushed back to December 11, 2012 on November 1st when he debuted the cover. The first single from the album is "Mama Told Me" featuring Kelly Rowland.  The album featured guest appearences from A$AP Rocky, Ludacris, T.I., Little Dragon, Kelly Rowland and B.o.B.

Big Boi revealed that he is already ten songs deep into his third as of now untitled studio album
