Now a health board has reversed its decision and voted against endorsing the controversial campaign.
The vote by the Benton Franklin Health District in Kennewick, was in response to complaints the ads were in poor taste.
'We got several complaints,' Benton County commissioner, Shon Small, told the Tri-City Herald. 'We're going to do what the taxpayers wanted.'
Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. It is expected to cause around 49,380 deaths this year, according to the American Cancer Society.
Overall, the lifetime risk of developing colorectal cancer is about 1 in 20, and the disease is more common in men than in women.
