Guest_2878: what's up BKS1? got on here late but here is my take on the NBA Playoffs. I am not a Knicks fan, but Melo is getting a bad rap by some in the media. This team was flawed, but the watered down Eastern Conference, did little to expose them during the season. I said this back then, and still stand by it, the Knicks should have kept David Lee.
Guest_2878: The Heat will beat the Pacers in 5
G-Wils: my previous comments, forgot my handle
G-Wils: David lee led the league in double-doubles
G-Wils: the Knicks chose Amare with bad knees over David Lee.
DrunkFalcon: he does

Is It Okay For A Friend or Family Member To Date Your Ex?| Special Guest: TV Host DaQueen Monroe

Is it okay for a friend or family member to date your Ex???

Would you feel differently if the person your Ex was dating was a friend from high school or a distant cousin?  If you guys broke up several years ago would it still bother you? If it does bother you does that mean you still have feelings for this person? Is it a form of disrespect if that person has been around your kids, family members and other friends?  Would it make you think that they always felt that way when the two of you we're together?

What if you and your Ex had kids together or always wanted kids and now you find out that your friend is pregnant with your Ex baby?  What time frame makes is acceptable or is there a time frame? When it comes to dating an Ex do men feel differently than women? Join the ladies of O.W.W.H.H tonight on Bks1radio.com at 11:00 pm as we discuss this topic.

Verbal Abuse: Why Does It Have To Hurt So Much? | Special Guests: Dedra Tate, Guyviaud Joseph, Kay Gee and Elite

Topic: Verbal abuse: Why does it have to hurt so much?

Have you ever met someone that appeared perfect? Surprised you with little things like flowers, a card, or your favorite candy? This person always made you smile, laugh and made you feel very special, but after awhile the relationship started to change. The beautiful romance started to fade away and what appeared to be a sweet love story is now a horrible nightmare. Are you constantly being blame for everything? Do you constantly try to explain yourself? Are your personal needs no longer important? Do you feel afraid, threaten, or harassed? Are you always sad? Did you know that words can be used to punish someone and that verbal abuse can be used as an attempt to control the actions of another?

Verbal abuse can affect both men and women. Often it is unpredictable and can lead to mental anguish. But, why does verbal abuse hurt so much? Is it true that negative words can cause emotional pain? Break the cycle and join the ladies of O.W.W.H.H Friday night at 11:00 pm est. on Bks1radio.com.

Special Guest: Dedra Tate

Dedra N. Tate, a Howard University graduate, has been a thriving contributor to the entertainment industry for over twenty-five years.  After thirteen years as president and general manager of Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment, Tate stepped into the entrepreneurial arena with her company Unlimited Contacts, Inc.  Under the UCI banner, Tate has successfully leveraged her years of experience and contacts to segue into TV/Film production, event planning, career management, promotion/marketing consulting and public speaking.

Tate started her career in 1984 as advertising sales assistant at MTV Networks, Inc. and in no time progressed to talent relations.  Tate transitioned to the music industry as National Promotion Coordinator for UNI Records followed by executive positions in Radio & Video Promotions at MCA, Motown & BIV 10 Records.

Tate is the Associate Producer of the independent Platinum successes later…Flavor Unit Entertainment partners, Queen Latifah and Sha-Kim, offered Tate the position of president and general manager where she handled the daily operations of three record labels, a management company and a burgeoning television and film production division.  Tate was the Supervising Producer for UPN’s VIBE AWARDS and produced projects for Flavor Unit Television and Films, including "KIDNAPPED," a family comedy developed with Lions Gate Entertainment and “WIFEY’S” a cutting edge, one hour scripted series pilot, produced in conjunction with VH-1 & BET Networks.

Tate is the associate producer of the independent film “Blackout,” with an ensemble cast enhanced by the performances of Jeffrey Wright, Saul Rubinek, Latanya Richardson-Jackson and Melvin Van Peebles.   “Blackout” was written, directed and produced by Tate’s Unlimited Contacts, Inc. client, Jerry Lamothe and was an instant audience hit at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival and the Urbanworld/VIBE Film Festival.   Tate also co-Produced Lamothe’s latest creative venture, “The Tombs,” a short film starring Nashawn Kearse that chronicles the journey of an African American man processed into NYC’s central booking system.

Tate has now added the moniker of casting director to her credits with her latest independent film “Life, Love, Soul.”   Tate wore multiple hats to bring LLS to fruition including Producer, Casting Director, Music Supervisor and also played a key role in securing private investors to fund the production.   LLS stars Jamie Hector and Chad Coleman from HBO’s “The Wire,” Terri J. Vaughn (“The Steve Harvey Show”/”All of Us”), Tami Roman  (CBS’s “Moonlight”/”Wifey’s) and Ashford & Simpson’s Valerie Simpson, in her acting debut.

Life, Love, Soul secured a limited theatrical release at select AMC Theaters and a DVD distribution agreement with Melee Entertainment.  LLS was the winner of the prestigious “Audience Award” at the 2011 BET Urbanworld Film Festival and was also an HBO Finalist at the 2011 Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival.  The Links, Incorporated and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women also unanimously selected Life, Love, Soul as the opening night red carpet premiere for the Teaneck International Film Festival in November, 2011, with all proceeds benefiting their charitable work in Bergen County, NJ.   Tate is busy working on her latest project titled “ZOO,” serving as the films Associate Producer.

The list of artists Tate has worked with, and helped guide the careers of, reads like a who’s who of the record industry:  Queen Latifah, Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, New Edition, GUY, Shanice, Aaron Hall and The Boys, to name a few.   Tate is currently focused on utilizing her years of knowledge and "unlimited contacts" to guide the careers of burgeoning independent artists and labels.

Tate is a jury member for the International Emmy Awards and serves on the Board of Directors for A Better Bronx For Youth and Support Network, Inc., honored by both organizations for her work in the community.   Tate has received numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious National Urban League "Building Brick Award", Ebony Magazine’s “Outstanding Women In Marketing & Communications,” National Action Network’s "Women of Excellence Award,” 98.7 KISS-FM “Phenomenal Woman” Award and was part of the first group of “40 Under 40 Achievement Award” recipients.

Tate attributes her success to the love, strength and support she gets from her family, each specializing in their own area of expertise for her development.  Business savvy and hard work from her mother Sandra; ambition, comedic style and vivacity from her father Bob, attitude and spirit from her older sister Jeannine, her youthful exuberance from her nephew Robbie and her love for life from her teenage son Jian.

Sexual Stereotypes| Special Guest: Marc Brissett

Friday, 03 May 2013 16:13 Published in OWWHH! Only Women Wear High Heals
Sexual Stereotypes| Special Guest: Marc Brissett

Topic: Sexual Stereotypes

Are sexual stereotypes undesirable and harmful? Many men and women buy into sexual myths and fantasies. As a result they are not only the victims but they are also co-conspirators in perpetuating and promoting sexual misconceptions. If a person makes a living by taking off their clothes and dances provocatively on stage does that mean that they are great in bed? If a woman went to private school does that make her easier to sleep with ? Are overweight women sexually desperate? Women with tattoos are they sexually outgoing? Is it true that the darker the berry the sweeter the juice?

Sexual stereotypes are everywhere in night clubs, movies, commercials and magazines. But, does what we think about sex affect our lives? Is it true short men are short in other areas? If a man has big feet does that mean he is sexually endowed? In order to have great sex does size really matter? Are sexual  stereotypes affecting your life? Tonight on Bks1radio.com at 11 pm est. join the ladies of O.W.W.H.H as we discuss this interesting topic.

Special Guest:  Author Marc Brissett

Marc Brissett is a New York Author who delved into writing books as a natural progression from his first experience with writing, song writing. Marc has been writing songs since he was a teenager and his first book;”Invisible” about twins is based on a song he wrote called “Invisible man”. He also credits his mother as an inspiration as she was a twin herself. Her twin died at birth much like the character in his book.

Marc has been a BMI writer since the early 90’s and one song he wrote appeared in a New Line Cinema film. Marc has also added voice over to his list of skills when he voiced a toy commercial for Roseart. Marc’s first love will always be athletics as he ran track and played basketball in school. His wall full of trophies in what he calls the “Bling Bling” room would give you an indication of how athletic he is. Marc prides himself on being called one of the fastest kids in the country when he was in high school. Marc later turned his attention to basketball and played point guard for his college team.

He now runs a youth basketball league called MVP Basketball League for the youth in Queens, NY. Marc brings the same intensity to writing books as he did to sports. Marc uses a lot of his athletic experiences in his writing, if you see a basketball story or a basketball character in a story he wrote, it most likely came from a real life experience.

When Is The Right Time To Get Married?| Special Guests: East Orange Mayoral Candidate Kevin Taylor and MC's Vincci & Zunni

When Is The Right Time To Get Married?| Special Guests: East Orange Mayoral Candidate Kevin Taylor and MC's Vincci & Zunni

Topic: When is the right time to get married?

How does someone know when is the right time to get married? Or, is it a right time, the right age, or right mate? If you have been with someone for a very long time does that mean you should get married? Is a strong spiritual foundation essential for a successful marriage? Should financial income, educational background, friends, or family play a major role towards marriage?

The right time for marriage is different for each person and unique to each situation. Join Bks1radio.com, The Movement Magazine, and the ladies of Only Women Wear High Heels as we discuss this complex question, "Is there ever a right time to get married "?

Special Guest: East Orange Mayoral Candidate Kevin Taylor

Kevin Taylor is focused and unrelenting in his commitment to build a better East Orange. Born, May 14, 1959 at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ, Kevins family made their way to East Orange when he was just six years old. Kevin began his education at Columbian Elementary and Rutledge Elementary Schools in East Orange, NJ.

He graduated from Clifford J. Scott High School in 1978 with All-American, All-state and New York Daily News All Stars honors in football. His talents and leadership on the field awarded him a football scholarship to the University of Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and the privilege to play in the prestigious Aloha Bowl Championship in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1983.

While in college, Kevin met and fell in love with his beautiful wife, Sandy Taylor, Esq. After college, the two moved back to East Orange, NJ where they currently reside with their two children Kelsey, 18 and Kevin Jr., 15. In 1984, Kevin established Ketco Construction which won the contract and constructed the well known Brick Church Mall in East Orange, NJ. Thereafter, Ketco Construction acquired multiple contracts with prominent businesses and corporations including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Kevin worked methodically to grow his business into a thriving and progressive entity that which his family and community could be proud. He matured into a consummate entrepreneur who now desired to use his wealth of knowledge in managing a successful enterprise along with his astute business practices to change his community.

In 1992, Kevin founded the East Orange Falcon Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading Program. He used the discipline of sports to help foster foundational character building attributes, i.e., morals, ambition and perseverance into East Oranges most precious resource, its youth. For fourteen years, the Pop Warner league serviced over 4000 youth and annually organized a staff of more than 35 volunteers. Based upon the success of the program, and the favorable feedback from the youth and their parents, Kevin launched the Falcon Mentoring and Tutoring Program. This program allowed for dozens of East Orange students to receive much needed academic assistance from some of Seton Hall University’s brightest students. Subsequently, he forged a partnership with the Dionne Warwick School in East Orange, NJ to establish a one-on-one mentoring program throughout the East Orange school district.

After years of contribution and service to the East Orange youth, Kevin was elected 5th ward district leader and subsequently turned his attention to the community-at-large. As a natural progression, Kevin formed the Kevin Taylor Civic Association, an organization that sponsors various initiatives throughout East Orange for the purpose of assisting churches, seniors, families and addressing critical community issues.

Kevin also serves as a board member of the East Orange Education Foundation and as an involved member of the East Orange Chamber of Commerce. As President of Blackstone Acquisition LLC, a property acquisition firm, Kevin currently manages over 150 properties throughout the United States, totaling over 8 million square feet, within major urban and suburban real estate markets. He is also Chief Executive Officer of PI Resources LLC, a marketing and advertising firm - See more at: http://www.eastorangeforkevintaylor.com/bio.html#sthash.JSgoKOm5.dpuf

Special Guests: MC's Zunni and Vincci

ZUNNI

With contractions coming back to back, Zunni has been kicking and waiting to be birthed.  This long overdue Jersey creation has proven himself ready for his introduction to the world of Hip Hop.  Do not be fooled by his baby face looks. His boyish charm will NOT be reflected in his lyrics, in fact, Zunni is quite mature in the area of delivery.  Though he came on the Hip Hop scene prematurely, Zunni’s lyrical formula will definitely do as nourishment for this Golden Child of Hip Hop. His natural ability is unquestionably what Hip Hop has been craving.

VINCCI

Clean music with a Hip Hop and Pop feel, is the best way to describe VINCCI’s sound. Hailing from Newark New Jersey, this upcoming artist has a sound that will take the listener back to the basics of what “feel good” music should sound like. VINCCI has been described as one who is driven by his own creativity and not the gimics of others.

Known for his smooth flow, this Jersey groomed M.C. has decided to position himself in the lane of opportunity. Stand back, because once the light changes there is no telling where his CREATIVITY will land him. At this stage, VINCCI has opted to put “typical” music on the back burner and focus on a “timeless” sound. Follow him on Twitter @IamVincci to see where his road leads.
